Ms. Clarke's class starts off the new school year with a great poem by Kenn Nesbitt called "I Can't Wait for Summer". Enjoy this great group of new 4th graders as they practice their fluency with their poem of the week.

Give a listen to Ms. Clarke's 4th grade class as they perform an original readers' theater based on the book "The Sea, The Storm, And The Mangrove Tangle". After reading the book, Ms. Clarke's students worked together to write their own script and performed their creation at this year's Science Expo. Good job, students!

Come visit the John "Ding" Darling Wildlife Refuge in this creative Readers' Theater by Ms. Bence's 3rd grade Read 180 class.

Watch this cute production by several of Ms. Bence's Read 180 students. Students practice their parts for several days, then perform their script for the class. Readers' Theater improves their fluency, as you can see and hear!

Third graders culminate their study of Ancient Greece with the Greek Agora. Come visit their ancient Greek marketplace and spend your gold coins on some real treasures.

Watch this original movie made by Ms. Mesa's second grade class. In computer lab, they created drawings of sharks that they have researched. Each child then added a fact about their shark. Check out their final project!

Watch our little pre-kindergarten student present their rendition of the classic story, The 3 Little Pigs! Who knows which one of them may turn out to be a famous actor or actress!

Surrender to books and join our crew of pirates as they read with parents, staff and middle school crew. We had a full boat and our little pirates read a treasure chest full of books. Peer through the spyglass and aim your eyes on these young readers.

Welcome to the wonderful world of rocks. Listen to Ms. Hoffman's 3rd grade rockhounds perform a readers' theater based on their study of geology.

Music is poetry and in Ms. Z's class, students analyzed and discussed the elements of poetry in songs of their choice. In addition, students created worksheets for their classmates to complete based on the elements of the song. Listen in on this great lesson!

This week's posting features Ms. Clarke's class reading their poem for the week, Belinda Brooks Loved Library Books. These 4th grade students study a poem every week and practice reading aloud to improve their fluency. The children enjoy this activity and it helps them appreciate poetry and become more fluent readers!

Join Ms. Bence's Read 180 students as they practice their fluency by reading aloud the poem, How to Delay Your Bedtime. The class reads a poem every day to improve their fluency. This was only their second day practicing this poem! Great Job Students!!

Students at PKS had the unique opportunity to watch Wyland paint his final Whaling Wall in the United States. Mr. Wyland worked with the students as they painted a variety of sea life critters. These critters will be part of another project, 100 miles of Fish! PKS and all the people in the Keys thank Mr. Wyland and the Wyland Foundation for this once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Each month Ms. Dionne's first grade class learns one of Maurice Sendak's poems. Listen in as they share their February poem with us.

Watch Ms. Green's kindergarten students 'read the room'. Reading the room is a strategy often used in the primary grades to help students become more fluent. The more students read and reread, the more fluent they become. Ms. Green's students did a great job! Listen to the wonderful progress they have made.
